Separate runs from walks with Nike +

There are times I want to use Nike+ to see how far I walk in a day, but I don't want to bring down my average pace!

After all, in calibration mode there are options for either running or walking, so it seems like a no-brainer for Nike to split them out. All you'd have to do is tell the Nike+ app that you're doing a Walk type workout when you start.

Yeah, I usually run then walk. I like to know my running time averages separate from my walk time averages.

This would be soo easy to do ... Kinda like with the weather and street conditions.

I agree. I can't run, but am in training for a Breast Cancer 3 day 60 mile and have walked almost 30 miles in the past 2 day and would like to see anything geared towards walking - I am sure there are lots of other walkers out there who would too. I love the Nike+ - there have been a couple bugs - but it would be great to have a section of the site geared for walkers.

Yeah, it would be nice to categorize runs as walks, hikes, climbs once you have downloaded the "run." Then the stats can be totals across all categories, and individual totals by category...

After all, there's more to life than running :-)

Hikes and walks! Some of us are not runners or vary our workouts.

I think it would be great to split them out into different screens, or as different colors. What would be great is to be able to manually identify a few runs and a few walks in your account. Based on that information and your average pace, it could retroactively split your runs and walks, keeping your average pace for each type of workout.

Then, from there, you could identify hikes, etc.

I can't imagine that type of code would be hard to write with the resources Nike has, and to retroactively do that would be amazing.

I an starting a walk to run and need to see the difference so that I can train better.....I hope they seperate this soon....even having the applications better reflect the site so that they look similar and can be consistent...especially for the walk to run program.

YEah its makes it hard to track the WALK to RUN training program. What was the point of calibrating in both walk and run mode if its not available later?

I am a walker and was given a wrist band to let me monitor my progress. I like the idea for monitoring my walk habits.

hey everyone, i just want to make a comment to all the iPhone owners. This guy Matt posted an idea up about 5 months ago that I think has great merrit, but for some reason has been overlooked. It's about Nike making an armband for the iPhone. I'm sorry that i'm leaving a comment that's 100% off topic, but I think this is a great idea, and I really want it to get noticed, and what better place to put it than the #1 commented on idea. Again, I apologize, and I am also providing the HTML address for Matt's idea. If we get a lot of people to notice it, Nike might do something about it. So even if you don't have an iPhone, say that u like the idea (I'm begging you, please, for our sake) so that Nike can maybe make one.

Outstanding idea. when is Nike going to implement it? I like to use the system for both for when we hike/walk but it's disappointing that I then can't keep track of how I'm improving my running. the system is really motivating. Just a few more bells and whistles, please!

I love this idea! I usually take very long brisk walks with my son, pushing his stroller hard work! But I like to keep track of my running/walking pace. I make notes when I upload but it would be nice if they were seperated!

Excellent idea - I'm recovering from some surgery and running is out.

I think the technology is out there. I am really surprised that they didn't think to have options as RUN and WALK. Also they could design a little pouch or device to attach your Nike+ to shoes you can walk with or even different trainers. Who doesn't have more than one pair of running shoes and not necessary NIke? I also do a lot of trekking and walking and recording all the hours I walk in the mountains would be fantastic. What about when I walk every day to get the bus?
You can see that this little nice gadget could embrace much more users if it would have been used at the best of its potential.
...and I am not talking about attaching it to the front wheel to record your speed and mileage done on your bike...!!!

I agree that I would love to have the ability to track my walks on the website. I am not a runner. I love the Nike plus website and would love to see challenges and goals geared for walkers also.
