Control the amount of sharing on twitter and facebook
I love having the auto-updates to twitter and facebook, but I want to be able to control what I share...I don't really want to spam my accounts with the fact that I updated my goals, for instance.

it would be nice to share that i ran, but have the option to keep the details (such as pace) to myself. No one needs to see how slow i am, but it would be cool to just have an update "uploaded a 4 mile run" or something -- Again, with the option of not including time/pace if i don't want to.

i had sharing on, but after creating goals and stuff,, i realized i was spamming facebook and twitter..and turned off the sharing. there should be a button next to runs that says "share this run on facebook or twitter" so users can choose what they share instead of auto sharing

Inappropriate? It would be great to have this function! I don't trash talk in challenges anymore because I know it will be posted to my facebook (some people think this is for the better, but whatever)
I’m interested
-
Inappropriate? Not having any control of what information gets shared nor any idea of what it might be is very poor user experience. Show people what types of things would be posted and give them the option to opt in/out. I want to post run times but not when I add a new goal.

Inappropriate?100%... I didn't know I was sharing everything either and it started spamming my facebook. My sister gets my status updates on her cellphone and at 3AM it was spamming her phone as well! I had no idea my "I set a goal" was changing my facebook status to the same! Why would I want that to be my status!!!! I definitely want to share my runs and even my records set - i.e. Personal best 10K - but NOT everything!!!

Inappropriate?Sharing runs is good, but I wish there was a way to stop it from also sharing the notes that I put with the runs. If I write that chafing slowed me down, I want to keep that to myself and not share it with the world, lol!

OH NO! does it? I knew I shouldnt have made that comment about the good looking girl on the horse! -
Inappropriate?I agree. I also disabled the sharing.

I.m really slow too Aimee, but just doing it is better than most people, I have real problems with balance and a trapped nerve, the only person to compete against is really yourself, perhaps a percentage improvement scale would be more - informative without specifics, hey even my Doctor could look at it if she wanted to! -
Inappropriate?Totally agree. It would be nice if it would post times, data, etc. to a small space on Facebook, but not to the status! I got a lot of crap for 2 days of inadvertent FB spam...

Inappropriate?I agree. I would like to separate out the various options for the Mini, for instance. I'd like to use it on my Facebook and my screensaver. But, my friends don't want to have every run sent out to them. So as a result, i have opted out of using it altogether, and I really liked it on my screensaver as a motivational tool. Bummer. It is a "Share all or share none" option right now.

Inappropriate? The Facebook/Nike Run development tools would provide all of these as options to publish. It's just up to the Nike team to add the switches to the user. Not a hard fix at all. I would use it if I could choose what was published as well. If more are using it then Nike wins through FB and Twitter viral connections. No brainer.
-
Inappropriate?I would love the ability to have just post one update to Facebook a week. Say a summery of how many miles I ran this week and/or how many days I ran. Just one post a week. Any more then that is spamming.
-
Inappropriate?I had to turn it off as well, a button next to the run to publish or not would work best, I exercise nearly every day, even if i only walk, (mud gets to about 4 inches deep) when really wet. I vote for a button, but dont think Nike listens anymore.
I’m thinking Nike needs a hearing aid.

Inappropriate? All of these ideas are great! Having options for as many of them as possible would be awesome!

Inappropriate?Hey everyone - you don't want NIke+ to share info with FB right now. There is a security error when they do. The link they post on your FB status allows ANY viewer to modify your run details or worse - DELETE the run and any other runs from your NIKE+ account. If the notifications are working for you now, I would recommend you ask a friend or family to click on the link (or try it yourself) and you'll see the 'options' link on the top right allow the viewer to DELETE your run(s), and modify your 'feelings' about the run, the weather, and the type of terrain. I would recommend not using the application until they fix this security issue.

Inappropriate?Just tried it. No "Options" when I look at my fiance's runs. Can't delete it, can't do anything to it. BS.
-
Inappropriate?Strange - it's working on my side over here. I wonder if it was a momentary glitch?
-
Inappropriate? If you're trying it on a family member's link, are you sure THEY aren't logged in already on the Nike site (from earlier perhaps) and THAT'S why you can edit it?
-
Inappropriate?Tried that as well. Ensured I was logged out and the wife was also logged out. Even closed down iTunes to ensure there was no cross referencing going on with the system. Still I can change her details and she can change mine. I even restarted the laptop and closed the browser and reopened to 'clear' any memory. Still same thing...
-
Inappropriate?I just tried it here and it only showed "Options" and allowed me to edit it if she was logged into the Nike site on the same computer at the same time. Once I logged out of her account, "Options" disappeared.

Inappropriate?hey everyone, i just want to make a comment to all the iPhone owners. This guy Matt posted an idea up about 5 months ago that I think has great merrit, but for some reason has been overlooked. It's about Nike making an armband for the iPhone. I'm sorry that i'm leaving a comment that's 100% off topic, but I think this is a great idea, and I really want it to get noticed, and what better place to put it than the #1 commented on idea. Again, I apologize, and I am also providing the HTML address for Matt's idea. If we get a lot of people to notice it, Nike might do something about it. So even if you don't have an iPhone, say that u like the idea (I'm begging you, please, for our sake) so that Nike can maybe make one.

Inappropriate? It'd be great if Nike would come and comment on the possibility of this happening. Its been 8 months since this suggestion was posted and no responses of yet.
The other companies I'm following on GetSatisfaction are great in responding pretty quickly - at least to let the masses know that they are actually looking at this site and that it isn't an exercise in futility.
I’m waiiiting (along w/everybody else)

Inappropriate?Realistically, i think it makes more sense for Facebook etc, to offer sub groups that get this info, a bit like grouping your friends, into say fitness, family etc, The sad thing is here I havent seen any response from Nike at all anywhere, please correct me if i am wrong. I dont share anymore, because 80% of my friends have no interest in my time or run details.
Its a great idea but to be honest, not thought through. Thanks for trying Nike, but i really think you should comment even if to say 'No' as it is damaging your image.
I’m disillusioned!

Inappropriate?I can't believe that there has been no response to this issue yet! This was supposed to be a Beta test of the new program and yet there is no reply to this issue that has raised many thoughtful replies and recommendations that have been posted for up to 8 months. Mine has been on there for 7 months alone. The last post I saw was questioning whether this was just a dead-end site and was anyone realloy paying any attention to this? At first I was thinking we'd get some response since I thought this was a responsible company, now not so sure!!!

Pat, the consensus is Nike are not listening, I note however they seem to be responding to comments on the Nike Forums, maybe they just moved out without telling us. There are similar threads on the nike forums, try there I think we wasted our time here, I'll thank all you Nike Plus'ers if no one has the courtesy to do that at Nike. Good Job all - well done! -
Where are these nike forums you speak of?... Lets all head there en masse. -
Heading there to start this thread anew. It seems that Nike Pro's are responding there. Hope you all chime in as well! -
Inappropriate?I would like to select which runs I want to share on facebook. Some of my runs are quick small runs, but once I reach a distance that I would like to share - I want to share that distance!! So as of right now, the second I'm proud of a run I have to plug it into the computer... I can't run my next run because then I can't share the long distance run!
I’m sad
